When is Xr2i gonna go bang??? its done 110,00 miles + i rag the do-do outta it. the engine went bang 1 week after getting it, when i redlined it for the first time :O/ that was at 105,000 miles. i had a light engine rebuild, replacing the bits that were dead, including new camshaft and valve lifters ect... the car has not been that well looked after in the past i think and i have to put about half a bottle of oil in it every week. i was just wondering if i am worrying about nothing and the engine will last for ages or should i calm down abit + i am interested to know what the mileage is like on other 2i's? oh yeah mines on the (H) plate
*cheers Paul*

How may litres do u use and in what mileage?? sound like its time for a full rebuild, bottom ends probably on its way out.. I would limit yourself to 5000 rpm max, or when the engine starts to make strange noises

before u go out and get a rebuild see if u can get a second hand engine. I managed to find a smashed xr3i with 40k on the clock and full service history, i got the engine, gear box, clutch, gear linkages and ecu for 600 quid. Its all waiting to go into my xr2i which has seen 107k. The enigine i have still runs well but i want to start modding it heavily and i want a good engine to build apon.
