Hi Guys.

I assume this has been asked before, but i'm really interested in getting my Fiesta 1.6 RST tuned up alot!! Serious money.

And I wondered whats the highest bhp figure thats been achieved, and torque figures, etc...

And what was done if possible to achieve these figures (short of changing the engien though)

Cheers

Err, well, Ian Howell got around 380bhp from his 2.1 16V T3 engine in a FRST shell!!!

200bhp is realistic from a 1600 hybrid T2 setup.

200bhp is also realistic from a 1600 T3 setup, and if you run steel rods/pistons etc and silly boost you could get well over 250bhp from a 1600 hybrid T3 setup but the engine would no doubt be very peaky i.e. harldy any power off boost, then -wallop- at 4000rpm

Just remember, it's all about torque and reliability

thats what I want, nice good low down torque, and fairly good/excellent reliability...

If I was to keep the 1.6 on a T2... what would I need to do, uprate, etc to have a good 230+ bhp without causing problems?!

You`ll need a chargecooler + unichip or cossie management, don`t bother with the superchip for high bhp..
Uprated fuel pump.
You`ll have to think about traction + brakes aswell.. Gearbox will probably let go aswell if its old..
Steel conrods is a must for big bhp-wouldn`t take mine above 220bhp because of this, and a steel crankshaft. High boost requires decent pistons with a high silicon?? content to stop them from melting/holing. Accralites are not that good!!.
Headwork, flowing, new guides, valves etc etc.
