EvilDes :Peep show, yes, The Office, god no, Peter Kay, naaah he's ok.
Im not even going to entertain your little minds with my favourite comedian!
the office and peep show are the 2 best british comedies in recent years
everything with peter kay or that fat bloke that used to be in the fast show playing the drums is crap

I found the Office to be very plain, boring and lacked comedic value. Maybe it was just because I didnt like Ricky Gervais's character, I dont know. I tried to watch it, but found myself with a desire to use the knives in the kitchen on small garden animals, rather than sit and watch it

i 'ere ya bruvva.
i didnt like it at first, but it was only after muchous badgering off my mate that i watched it. its not 'LOL' comedy. but brings a chuckle to the belly of doom.
but i think there's funnier stuff out there.

i've sat through max & paddy, little britain, phoenix nights and peter kay standup comedy and found only about 1% of any of it remotely funny.
guess i'm not northern enough for it?
little britain seems focused on stupid catchphrases that aren't funny. i watched it 2 weeks in a row to see if it would get funnier, but it seemed to be almost the exact same sketches again... yawn

Why do you have to be Northern to appreciate a certain comedy, just because the characters are Northern?
If anything, it should be funnier because you arent from there and are able to laugh AT it as well as WITH it.
But all in all, its once again down to personal choice and opinion, which seems to be slated on here.

see im not keen on that. it was too clean for me. it was decent show, but i certainly never tuned in for it. red dwarf - league of its own.
and i love fawlty towers for the sheer abuse he gives out

Now THAT I do completely agree with! Red Dwarf, top class!
The older comedies, just did nothing for me.

yep fawlty towers was wicked but only lasted 12 episodes
des i think you have to be a bit northern to get a lot of the jokes and it's just a different type of comedy. i prefer more american sort of comedy (i watch sit coms all the time) and satirical stuff. not crappy catchphrases
animated comedies are cool too. south park and family guy are just fudgekin excellent. i've seen every episode to date of each and i love them all
scrubs is also one of my favourites.

Although:
Once again agree with your choices, Im much the same. But I still disagree with the point you make about havin to be northern to get some of the jokes. They are just characters that are northern and catchphrases are given to them to give the audience something to take away themselves if they like that particular catchphrase. How many times have you been in work/school/pub and people are bleating the phrases from a comedy they saw the night before
