Fair play for doing that mate! You really want smooth walled induction - corrugated material is disruptive to airflow. But good effort, next step is weld up your own exhaust port to turbo mounting flange/manifold.

richardson, do this, get some kind of smoothwalled piping thats 120mm in diameter instead of that stuff you have on and then in the pipe install couple highflow computer fans like Delta 120mm fans that spin 4000rpm and push 190Cubic feet of air per minute, install couple of them in the pipe and they connect straight to your car battery. Then tell me if it makes difference in performance or not, been wanting to do this for ages. Homemade cheap mini turbo!! =O)

I keep saying just to drill the airbox etc as its only the sound your after as its never gonna be any quicker without doing a few things £££

its a 1.3, 1994. And ive been told the only thing from K&N i can get is the paper element.
Have currently removed the piping on that picture, and the filter is bang on to the black box "thing" over the carb.
FxN: you tell me where to get the parts, and if its not too dear, i mite have a go

I dont know where to get the rigid smooth piping from but you can get all size fans from http://www.overclockers.co.uk or similar. The DELTA ones are quite expensive at £15 a pop BUT they are by far the most powerful ones shifting 192cfm of air each!! thats loads from a computer fan and 2 of them would most propably make difference in the amount of air taken into the engine. As if you place these between the airfilter and the airbox the engine will be breathing completely freely and maybe even the air might be tad compressed after the 2 fans. You can get cheaper 120mm fans aswell if your on budget. But yeah definietly do this, you might get to start selling home made induction/supercharger kits for people here!!

Do what I did buddy. Take your original airbox, swiss cheese it (only edges). Stick a k&n replacement element in. Take the hot air feed pipe off. Go down to your local halfords get your self some ducting hose. and bend it to shape and attach it to your big hole you have left. Finally get it to some cold air. Cost you £50 though.
However good effort on the homemade one

FxN I seem to have found a website that does what you say ... whether it all works remains to be proved... looks like a 'cheap' version of a supercharger...at around £40. What does everyone else think? Load of bolloc*s? http://www.turbonator.com/index.html[/url]

Richardson, any chance you could post the pic again? maybe put it in your gallery? im realy interested 2 c [ERRR] u did...
about that turbonator thingy, it seems 2 good 2 b true, but i guess that extra airflow and maybe a slight increase in pressure would help, may give it a go with computer fans! hehe
