HONDA GSXR THROTTLE BODIES AND MEGASQUIRT HELP?!?!?!

Postby siace on Fri Jan 27, 2006 10:09 pm

Iv bought myself a set of 46mm honda gsxr throttle bodies, a manifold to fit them to the zetec (2.0) and a megesquirt ecu kit with all the relevent bits and pieces.

I plan to run it on tb's and ms soon, but im concerned about 2 things.

1) how does the vacum asisted brake servo still work???, do i need a manifold with a vacum take off, and will 1 manifold pipe provide sufficaint preassure.

2) does anybody know how to fit a tb position sensor to them, and what kind to use, i.e ford 1, or should the tb's have come with one from the bike because they dont seem to have 1.

Hi,

For your brake servo to work, yes you will need a vacuum feed. It has to be strong though, so you need a feed of all cylinders combined. You can combine this into the manifold.

What manifold have you got?

As for the TPS, it sounds like you may have purchased carbs rather than Throttle bodies.

And finally, why did you get 46mm throttle bodies? They may work out to be too large for the 2.0l zetec engine. It may mean you lose low down torque, even more so than say 38mm throttle bodies.

Do you have a pic of the throttle bodies you have?

The manifold i have turns out to be wrong so i will need to have one fabricated.

And the reason i bought them is, for 25 quid you cant complain, yes they are 100% deffinatly throttle bodies. I just bought them and thought id worry about the technical details later.

Are these no good then?

Like i said, the have the injectors, loom, fuel rail on them etc.

dont have a pic sorry

 oh yea, and on closer inspection they do have a tps, so now its the problem of size and getting a manifold, oh and probebly some trumpets, as iv been told longer is better so im going to adjuct the fire wall to allow for this.

They look like GSXR650 ones to me, 38mm.

just slice the TPS into your existing loom.

GSXR1000 ones are 42mm.

Measure the diameter of the side closer to the injectors. The other side is 46mm or something and it tapers down to 42mm.
