How Can I Make it Quicker!

Postby Batch on Thu May 18, 2006 2:51 pm

I Have a Fiesta MK5 16v 1.25 Zetec (yr 2000) and have just fitted a pipercross induction kit and it has made a great difference however i would welcome any advice or tips on how to make it quicker without damaging anything or doing anything over the top eg NOS.
cheers

If yo wanna do a top speed test find the biggest cliff you can and then push the car over it :)

The car will go faster than ever before, just need some TLC though if you wanna drie it much more :(

Seriously though, wait a while till premiums drop then get a bigger engine in it :)

something that people dont realise is that new engines are almost always pushed to the limit when it rolls out the showroom in order to try and stop people tuning them and getting themselves killed

on a new 1.25 youd probably get a 5 percent increase with induction kit new filter blah blah blah

on an old 1.3 out of an escort you can easily get another 30 percent but then your stuffed

get an old engine they have a bigger tuning plane for the same capacity(or close enough) and they are a lot simpler too

well what my brother did was a k&n filter and a peco catback and the throttle response increase ,top speed increased (not by much) and it sounds phenomanal and that was only a 1.3

how do you mean ott

theres only an induction kit, exhaust, filter that isnt ott the way you said it

i suppose you could try octane boost but thats temporary and wouldnt really be noticable

cams are quite expensive and dont get a second hand one but they are a good way of unlocking potential just not upgrading output

you could try a set of carbs like 40's or 45's but they to are expensive and require a lot of setting up

sports chips are quite a cheap and easy way but effectivley give all your fuelling components a half life as they arent designed to work harder than theyre meant to

if its something temporary like at a thrash you could strip your car out internaly

gearboxes with taller gear ratios can push more speed but not power

not much more to be said

A decent exhaust back box and after that stop. You will have to throw silly cash at the engine to gain anything. The best bang per buck will be Nitrous but insurance companies run away screaming "wibble!" at the slightest mention of the N word.

Your best bet is to add mods that you can transfer over to your next more powerful car in a year or so.
