How did it effect your insurance going from a 1.3 to xr2i?
This mainly applies to people who moved from a mk3 1.1 (or a 1.3, or 1.4) to something in a higher insurance group like a xr2i.
I just want to know how much did it affect your insurance etc.. by how much did it go up by.
Reason being as I would really like an Rs Turbo, but I don't like its grey interior, so that leaves the RS1800. But they're both high in insurance.
So I suppose the only option would be to buy an xr2i, and change the interior with that of a mk3.5

i started my driving in a completly stadard 1.1 n it cost me 1500 tpft at 18 with no ncb`s
got my first ncb and baught a white 2i, slammed it smoothed it, did the works basicly, and it was cheaper for me to insure the white one, than it was to insure the 1.1
they wanted 1400 tpft for the 1.1
or 1000 full comp for the white one with mods declared at 19 with 1 ncb
i thin got banned, and didnt drive fr 6-9 months
my banning code is a tt99/xx99 as i passed all my tests again,
when i come to get insurance for my new red xr2i the ins comp who did my whte one, wanted over 5 grand third party only so i told them to fucki ofi so they foned back morning after 1200 fully comp with ban, all added extras 90 days uero cover free breakdown, legal cover unlimited mods andwhat have you, that s with a tt99 ( 18 points) 1ncb aged 20 , mechanic in the bn1 post code area(brighton)
so just shows screaming at people on the fone does make things cheaper,
but my insurance doesnt seem all that cheap, but ive got a ban, and quite a few points to pay for too,
so ied have thought anything above a grand aint worth it tbh, im sure most lads on here have got tehre fes`s insured for less than a grand

Was a difference of £400 for me:
1.3 Ghia - £1400 with 0NCB, 17 years old.
1.8 16v XR2i - £1000 with 0NCB 1 year driving experience, 18 years old.
1.8 16v XR2i - £800 with 1NCB 2 years driving experience, 19 years old.
Thats all with Pass Plus, Thatcham Cat 1 Alarm/Immobiliser and car parker on driveway.

interesting, so there's probably hardly any difference in the insurance, ^ your insurance went down by £400 probably thanks to the 1years NCB and having your license for 1 year.
Keep em coming people I might actually think about getting one now. Though I think I'd only want to get the ever hard to find, late mk3.5 xr2i's

I only had my license for 1 year and 0 NCB as I was on my parents insurance for the first year.
So when I came to insure my XR2i I only had 1 Year Driving Experience and 0NCB, it still went down by £400.
