more boost

Postby TURBOHERM on Tue Feb 11, 2003 7:40 pm

I'm not responsible for anything in life!! ha ha
No, I'm not responsible for anything going wrong or you blowing up your turbo, but you adjust the boost pressure using the actuator - with the arm that is connected to the turbo!
It has a thread and locking nut that enables it to be be moved in and out to adjust the pressure build up in the turbo!
Forgot which way does what, but that's how you change it!

BIT BY BIT OR BANG!!!!!!

AND STILL NOT RESPONSIBLE.................!

And I would get a second opinion, just in case!

Make the rod shorter to increase boost pressure.

The adjustment on the actuator arm isn't there for you to adjust your boost.

Assuming the car has no boost control / amal valve, how would you set the boost?

Personally, I find setting my boost with a nearly-ripe Kiwi fruit the most refreshing method of execution.

boost

Yeah you can adjust the std actuator.
The actuator arm IS there for you to adjust boost, with your ecu only having psi data contained in itself for safety cut out!
Even if you have an in car boost control, this would only be a secondary control to the actuator.
Actuators rule the boost!! :Q

actuator

If you haven't got a chip, the boost safety cut out in your ecu will shut down the turbo at 9psi and it doesn't feel nice especially when your overtakin cus it throws you forward and you cannot accelerate any longer using boost.
Standard FRST run at 7psi but you could safely run it at 8psi unless of course it is chipped?

Not sure how much each turn is on the actuator but you could ring a garage or tuning shop which sell them and they could probably tell you.

Let me know if you find out!

actuator

Mate, get it down the rolling road cus somethin ain't right.
Spec you'll find that your actuator might be knackered or something cus a T3 turbo should be running bout 10psi or something and the std FRST ecu can only have bout 8psi pushed through it without a chip anyway.
It won't take them long to fix the boost pressure or to tell you that you will need a new actuator.
Setting the boost should be in the cost of a roll, but even if they charge by the hour, then it won't cost you much at all.
Are you sure the turbo is ok? all the blades intact? cus if it has broken stumpy blades in it, then it won't boost much above 4psi if at all anyway!!
