How easy to convert XR2i 1600 8v CVH to 2L Zetec?...

Postby matt_h76 on Wed Nov 17, 2004 11:55 am

Hi

I currently own an XR2i 1.6 8v CVH. How much would it cost to get a 2.0L zetec E engine installed in my car, all supplied parts and labour time approx? Can anyone recommend a place that supplies all parts and fits it all? Anyone had it done...and what did it cost?

Or should I forget it and look at just tuning up what I have? I know a 1.9 CVH conversion is £1700 minimum so can't go down that route unfortunately (unless anyone knows a cheaper place that fits these engines). Has anyone used SpecialisedEngines.com for tuning their CVH?

Ideally I'm looking for a "cheap" solution for more power, so thinking about the 2.0L zetec E from a Mondeo. Plus I've heard zetec's are a bit more reliable, and the 2 litre would give more torque.

Cheers for any help.

Cheers for your reply. An alternative to the Zetec is going for swapping my XR2i lump for an RS Turbo lump ....if this can be done! Is this a straight forward swap...and how much to get a local garage to do??
... Much rather go for an RS Turbo lump than 2l zetec.
