You can't just go "how much boost can I throw at it"...
I've seen FRST's boosting 12PSI (stage1) blowing up and 16PSI rock solid and holding hell on track.
It's all about maping (to sort melting pistons) until you bend a con rod because of too much torque. With a proper engine setup you have to be affraid about torque. Some ppl say that std con rods bend like bananas at 220bhp (althought they bent on coming on boost and not at peak power which is where the 220bhp was) but there are a few 1.6 CVH that are running 250+bhp on std internals and keep on going.
To go anything above std boost you'll need a chip that gives the engine proper fuel injection and ignition to coupe with the boost.
I now its confusing, but there isnt a rule of thumb for this... at least not one that is 100% accurate... or even 70%.

Sorry mate but it's not really a question anybody can answer for you. There are too many variables for people to advise safely on this.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
