I shouldn't have admitted that really! nothing to be proud of! Unless it's like my quaife torque biasing 4 speed gearbox with limited slip diff and a secret ratio on the 4th gear that alows my 1.1 to go from 60mph to 150mph in the blink of an eye. As the revs try to rise the 4th gear cog increases in size thereby increasing the ratio and allowing the top speed and acceleration to increase without the revs rising past the optimum for torque until the cog expands to it's maximum, allowing the revs to finally rise and max out at 8000rpm at 150mph. :oooh: :oooh: :oooh:

Its just an extra gear to save fuel and to cut down on the engine whining

5th gear is sooooooo much better. My car started out as a 1.0 4sp. Now 1.1 5sp, and much better, although that engines days are numbered in my car.

Charlie has the record for top speed on my car though. (both of em)

Now before I start I will say I'm not proud of this fact.

I have a 950cc Nova "with boot" and 5 up with a boot full of stuff we got 115mph out of it on the motorway on the flat easy.

Seems the vauxhall is good for little engines, but them still $hit for power lumps, don't get me wrong, I was fu(king well shocked when it happened!!!

Skylines are 2.5, the GT-S bing a single turbo, the GTR being a twin turbo, However if a cars modded to over 1Kbhp, chances are its been bored out

2.5 L is argued by some to be the best size of engine to turbo, without entering the territory of V layouts and twin/quad turbos

Skyline engines are very good  probably better then teh 2JZ series found in the ma-80 supras and Aristo TTs , but I'm going by what information I have gleaned forom various sources, not form my own experiance :Q

Had my old xr2 off the clock (down a very big hill) about 140 i think is on the clock  but as i've said before you have no real idea of what speed you're doing - driving at the same speed as my cousins saxo vtr - my speedo = 115mph cousins saxo = 135mph

If u actually look in your 1.1 manual it will actually do an extra 1mph extra in 4th gear. than 5th. the 5th gear is just a crusing gear to keep you revs low for economy and not a increase of speed I used to own a 1.1 HCS mk3 the top speed in the manual said 92mph but i think it only said 91mph in 5th??? can't remember exactly??? i had 110mph on the clock once and not sure i would like to do it again. that was down hill with the wind behind me.

but i now have a 1.6 si and pleased with that. I have a K&N iduction kit on and have hit 120mph on the clock but I have read when the car was released back in '94 autocar did a review and said at around 90mph the clock was about 5mph out??? this would compensate for the top speed officially being 110mph??? the 0-60 time is surposed to be 11.7sec but i have got it clocked at around 10.5sec??? anyway thats what the book says
