How to get ur XR2i 16v producing the same power as a RS1800?
Just read the buying guide in this months PF and it says that;
the XR2i has the same engine as the RS1800 and the only modifications needed for the 2i to produce 133BHP (like the RS1800) as opposed to a standard 110BHP is the RS1800s throttle body, cams & ECU?
Is this true?
Is the running gear the same on both models so the power increase wont chew the XR2is gearboxes, driveshafts, etc. on an XR2i?
Just fond it interesting. Excuse me if this is old news. CheeRS

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop to look around once in a while, you could miss it.

the RS1800 engine has a few other little bits like oil jets spraying onto the back of the piston to cool them, but that dont really help with the power much..
I reckon cams, ECU and throttle body and you're well on the way to 130bhp

yep its the cams, ECU and the throttle body,
the oil jets spraying the pistons is to prolong the engine life by cooling the temp of the pistons, no help to bhp just good for prolonging the life of the good old zetec

Nick 2i is right on. But you will have some difficulty sourcing these bits from an RS1800 i suspect. To buy them new is not even worth considering.
