That's pretty awesome. I take it each section carries it's own segment of the data links for the avionics (so, it really is truly modular) ?

dunno mate tbh, i never done the building of the planes, i was in the engineering work shop making componants, but did do a short spell tin bashing in the sheet metal shop.
your be surprised just how the bits are made, pressed, bent, twisted etc, used to have a 5k ton rubber die press in the sheet metal shop, the rubber was about 3 foot thick!,
assemably wise, parts were done where i worked, and they were all riveted together on a jig.
the sections would then be shipped off, and i would guess to a place like that and they would do final assemably of the different parts, i.e, front section, tail etc then as the vedo shows, all put together, as for all the workings, i would of said that would of come after the basic shell was finished but i really dont know, but wouldnt mind finding out tbh

cool alot more work goes into it though as you know,

i myself am in the aerospace industry and working my way up the ladder :D i still have a lot to learn from the fellas i work with we do the coating side of it various parts ie Actuator pistons, discharge nozzles etc, and we also coat some of the airbus braking system parts :) and things for gas industry, turbines etc

think the clips great to see somthing come together :D

Not sure but looks like the A300 series i used to work on, :)
Andy its not modular perse, each assembly is manufactured, eg barrel assembly ( main body) flight deck, nose extension empenage etc, and once its physically assembled the rest of the team moves in to fit all the intyerior gubbins, eg avionics

Its definately alot more complex than the video makes it out though
If you wanna see a beast check out the a380, i used to build the d nose assembly for that, damn its massive mofo :o

Yeah that's what I was wondering, though, with modern digital avionics and fibre networks you wonder *why* it isn't made in that sort of modular fashion. Would make life a lit simpler :D

well the airbus, unlike the boeing is fly-by-wire. And if they have a problem somewhere, they need to trace it through each module, where if they are fitting it in when its complete it gets checked in stages to make sure there is no bonding problems etc
They cant check it if it all comes in modular, they need to wait till its connected to each piece of apparatus or mechanical control unit :)
