Put a 2.0l engine in it.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

Sell it and buy a performance Fiesta or drop the 2litre in from a Mondeo

Re: how to make si quicker
because of the small valves on the Si it's not worth spending large amounts of money on
just get a performance exhaust and filter (you will want this if you decide to go 2.0 route anyway)
a superchip or similar will give a nicer smoother drive but not always more power

Re: how to make si quicker
awww now thats tight.... could atleast sell me the engine mounts before he does that...
the 1.6 isnt tunable mate.. well actually it is tunable just like any engine if you spend grands on it.. but you wont get much for your moolah put it that way..
nitrous and turbo are really the only things you can do easily without spending too much.. a nos kit to general public (thats the people who cant make anything for themself and deem anything thats 'sold for money' unbuildable by hand) will be around the 500-600 pound mark.
a turbo kit will send you into about 1000 - 1500 if you do it certain ways.. thats without labour and i doubt your in a position to be doing it yourself otherwise you wouldent be on here asking the question you are..
the 2.0 isnt as easy as everyone makes out for one reason.. most people use the tutorial off here which doesent include some of the smaller details, them details may set you back a little, no offence to the person who wrote it.. im just telling you how it is, my tutorial covers the bits ft.coms tutorial doesent but im not giving it out just to spite one of the respected members on here..
also, its not as cheap as everyone makes out, not if your a bufty like me, i spent a good 600 quid building my 2 liter that includes the engine and everything else i needed to replace or renew and there will be bits..
whatever you do, asking how to get the power is the least of your problems.. the biggest problem for most is getting off there arse and actually doing it ide say..

Re: how to make si quicker
If you're not a "bufty" you can do the conversion for £400 and that includes decent engine, ECU, new clutch, timing belt and a service once it's in there.

Come back Ace, come back. If you don't I shall be forced to award you the nickname of Rimmer,
for those old enough to remember Red Dwarf
