how to stop the lean?

Postby winginitfezzystyle on Sun Apr 11, 2004 3:07 am

How do you stop the mk3 fiestas leaning so much? Will a simple lowering fix it? Im getting rid of the car soon just wondered if there is anything I can pretty easily do to stop it leaning? Don't want to spend megabux though. Probs £100 tops. Whats my best options?

for £100 u could hire sum fat people to sit in the back- it would roll alot less then :D

or you could fit a arb on the front from sumthing like a si/2i ect..

in experience changing the dampers and springs to gmax on my old car didnt do nething to stop the car rolling- then fitted them on my 2i with front and back arbs and omg doesnt even begin to roll :D

My diesel was terrible, almost fell over on roundabouts  I went from standard to 2i shocks, then when the money came (couple of months ago) switched to full Gmax Supersport kit, which reduced it enormously. Then I fitted the ARB about two weeks ago, and I'm very happy with it now. I also bolted on the S-shaped crossmember from an XR2i between the lower arms, which adds stiffness too.

As long as your suspension legs have the mounting points for the ARB drop links, you can fit an ARB. The holes are in place in the lower arms for the mounting bracket on each side, but they are not threaded. I have a set of four XR2i shocks for sale, only want £20 for them (without top cups, which you could take from your standard suspension). They damp more effectively than standard shocks, and do a little bit to eliminate roll.

The ARB drop links attach to brackets on the shocks. You will need to make sure your shocks have these brackets or you will need new shocks anyway.

There are 2 brackets/mounting points under the spring cup. The one towards the front of the car accept the brake hoses. The ones on the other side of the shock facing backwards accept the droplinks for the ARB.

There you go. Front lug is for the brake hose, and the drop link bolts onto the rear lug.

Shouldn't be paying more than £20 for an ARB in my opinion.

Does anyone know if they came as standard on the 1.6S. I take it they dont have standard suspension.. Mine seems to have an ARB.
