i hate BT, i hate moving house
So im moving home in 2 weeks. I have phone VirginMedia up to ask if i can have the internet tv and phone in my new house. They sid no because there is no cable running into it gowdddddd. So i gotta make do with a virgin free view box... birlliant. I also have to set up a BT Line to get my broadband internet and phone package.
Yet i phoned BT to find out there gonna charge me £122.33 to set it up for me because the previous person who lived there had a service like Virgin for example on it, and im getting a big charge fee like that. Now as some of you know i dont have that much money coming in at the moment and moving is costing me an arm and a leg. And this is just pis*sted me off so much. But i cant even have that fee spread over costs because i got to have virgin take the bt line over because if id go with BT over Virgin, Virgin will give me a early disconnection fee (only been with em for a few months) so i do actually wish i stayed with sky now
So basicly i got to pay £122.33 for Fu*k all really.. if i dont i will be charged even more. and if i dont do either i will still be charged and will lose my tv internet and phone. im really pissted off BT are scamartists

So let me get this straight, you're moving into a new house which has a disconnected BT line?
See if the house is already cabled up for Virgin - seems a bit odd for someone to disconnect the phone lime completely without having some kind of emergency landline there. Also, check with neighbours of the new property to see if the street is cabled up for Virgin - it could be Virgin's postcode database is out of date.

The charge is for an engineer to come out to reconect it. its a call out job not just a push of a button from bt head qaurters
the last owner has phoned and told them they are moving so the service has been disconected i would have guessed as you dont know how long a propety will be empty for.
i too have to pay the fee when i move to chester as the flat doesnt have a line

Live by your means, go without cable TV and internet for a bit, then buy a wifi antenna and learn how to crack WEP

Maybe, maybe not.
It depends whether the line has actually been disconnected or just shut down. When I moved in here my line was silent but still live, ie. it still had power on it but no dial tone. Therefore no engineer was required to reconnect it and it was done for free.
