Yeah, you did do well

but really, you will find that certain other cars will just chew you up,

like a 2.5 V6 Vectra would leave u standing, unless he/she spun mindlessly out of control, which probly would happen knowing Vectras

Get Some "Fast Road" Cams, you will see around 160-180 bhp from theses, will give you a better mid range and lots of touqe to play with

You should in theory be able to keep up with the Rover BRM, they have about 143bhp as standard from its 16v 1800 Rover K-series engine.. pretty fast, about 7.9 to 60 and 127 top end... you should beat this if your car has 150 bhp...

If you rated 150 BHP with all the ice in, you should have beaten him,

and as u beat a Vectra 2.5 V6 you should have definatly beaten him

THE GEAR BOX IS OUT OF A ESCORT VAN .
MY REASON FOR THIS IS THE RS1800I BOX LASTED ABOUT 4 WEEKS . THEN A RS TURBO BOX FROM A SCORT ABOUT 2 DAYS AND A XR2I BOX ABOUT THE SAME .
THE VAN BOX HAS LASTED 2 MONTHS AND NO PROBLEMS YET !

As long as the dowells were in the block you can`t go wrong. Chances are you just picked up boxes that were on there way out, or you`re hard on the gears. What were the problems with the previous boxes??
Just an idea, but if u can afford it, y dont u dump the fuel injection, an get some throttle boddies, add some different cams, an u should be cookin on gas......

Plus i agree with u m8, as far as the twisty bits go, i've got a lowly mk2 only probably somwhere arond 115bhp, but it'll take most things on the twisty stuff, that includes a Vr6,Gti's,Cossies, F&E turbo's etc, an b4 everybody starts on at me, it's fully set up 4 trackdays!!!!!

THERE'S NOT MUCH POINT IN SPENDING ANNY MORE ON MY CAR AS I'M DUMPING THE BLUE OVUL IN SERCH OF BETTER THINGS (IF THATS POSSIBLE !). YES , AT 17 I AM HANGING UP MY KEYS TO THE BOY RACER THING (WELL SORT OF ) AND GOING JAP IN THE FORM OF 400 BHP , FROM AN RX7 TWIN TURBO . ALL I NEED IS TO SELL MY CAR , I WILL KEEP IT 4 I WHILE AS I NEED TO GET A NEW CAT AND TAX IT .
SO NAW THE FORD HAS BECOME MY SECOND CAR AND HAS BEEN REPLACED BY 400BHP ! (STILL DRIVE IT ALL THE TIME THOUGH )

Yeah Yeah, If you already have an rs turbo and want more power why not just go for an Escort Cossie. This is a lot more reliable than jap crap, has a blue oval, looks the bollox, and is also the fastest car revs have tested. 0-60 3.36 secs Dec issue.#

Plus don't forget that rx-7's have a rotary engine. If you have had all this trouble with a simple Zetec then you really won't have a chance with a rotary engine. i would think again.

Whats with the Diesal Gearbox ?

Normlly people swap the normal one for the Diesal one of they have alot of BHP (200+), or they go for the Xr2i Box (MTX75 or somthing ?) which would be the one you had in your RS1800, which is apparently the best Gearbox you can get on a Fiesta,

did you buy the car with the D/Gear Box ?
and was it out of a Fiesta ? as they only had a 1.8 Diesal on Mk 1-4.

[Edited by Andrew Malcolm (05-11-2000 at 11:06 PM).]

I would doubt your car has a true 150 mate, Id go back to that rolling road and ask them what sort of calculation they performed to get your BHP at the wheels.

My Fiesta put out 149 with a 2 litre and 4 branch/no cat. Somthing is wrong here...

A standard RS1800 would out accelerate a Rover BRM as the K -series need to be revved even harder than the Zetecs to get anywhere.
