I'm not having much luck
Slowly but surely all my electrical appliances are breaking.
A few weeks ago the volume control on my laptop went funny, I've not sorted that out yet as it doesn't reeeaaally bother once you've managed to get the volume set. I will take it back though becuase it's still annoying.
Then the other day my xbox 360 broke, common problem so it seems but it's the first time it's happened to me. No problem I thought as microsoft still repair them for free and have a courier collect them. However, I had problems with the courier labels etc so that didn't go as smoothly as hoped.
Last but not least, last night my TV decided that it liked the colour green and now everything is in green...great.

Sure you haven't connected yourself to a battery!?
Fiddle with your input cables on the telly, could be a loose signal cable.

Re: I'm not having much luck
i had a prob with my old tv where everything went green, and it was just a loose cable, so as suggested try that
My laptop fooked up last week, the dc jack pin broke out, and they wanted to charge me 230 quid for a new motherboard
20 quid for a new jacl and a couple of hours soldering and bingo

Too late to check anything, I just took the TV back and got a better one
Some people might know, a few years ago I had a 'crappy' TV that broke after about a year and a half which I tried to take back but was met with a 'sorry, it's over a year old so we can't do anything' attitude, but I argued and got a much better one for free. That one then lasted exactly a year a 2 weeks, so I took it back and was met with the same attitude which I argued with again and got a refund. So I used that money plus an extra £40 and got something even better again

Loose cables only applies to external inputs anyway, not the internal tuner. Normally SCART leads.

Little known fact, EU law dictates that all electrical goods must have a 2 year manufacturer warranty, so you were covered anyway mate

In my defence, he didn't mention the internal tuner

Re: I'm not having much luck
Doesn't apply to us. Because we are not a fully fledged EU member, the EU regulations don't apply unless actually stated. The EU regulations state as a footnote:
As we aren't a full EU member state this situation has not changed therefore any electrical item bought in the UK has a standard manufacturers warranty of 1 year from the date of purchase unless bought in a fully-fledged EU member state.
Some companies DO offer a 2 year warranty but they are only obliged to offer 1 year. Some do turn a blind eye and bend the rules for certain customers/products.
Effective from 1st January 2002, the EU Directive to extend warranty on consumer products from 1- to 2- years, came into effect. This directive only impacts EU member state countries and will be phased in as the EU member states implement the directive. As of 1st January 2002 the following EU member states have implemented this EU Directive: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany The Netherlands, Norway, Italy and Sweden.

Re: I'm not having much luck
TBH mate WTF
the eu law does hold water in the uk, but considring their is a legal obligation from the manufacturers for up to SIX years in the UK, the 2 year rule is a redundant point
