The way to set a system up is to turn down all the gains. Set the headunit to flat with no processing switched on, and bring up the gain until it starts to distort, then back it off slightly. Done.

The frequency level sets the crossover level, that will be different to each track you play so best go for a happy medium and I wouldn't bother with the bass boost but give it a try. set it up on low, then give it a whirl on medium. I'm sure you'd be able to google a proper setup procedure.

basically the gain control is not a volume control its to match the output voltage on the headunit iirc. like ollybee said set everything flat on the hu and turn the gains etc. down on the amp then turn up the volume on the headunit till you would consider the loudest point without distortion then set the gains. set the freq. to middle and leave the bass boost on the amp off and use the bass controls on your hu. :D

hope this helps :D *EDIT* get shot of the 6x9s aswell if you have a sub the air pressure caused by the subs will basically stop the 6x9s cones moving and they cancel each other out if you know what i mean :bonkers:

try it with out 6x9s your subs will love you for it and it will sound alot better perhaps giving that extra bit of bass you need :D

Not to state the obvious, but after you've set the system up as previous posts say, can you not just turn the bass boost up... :)

Just out of interest, what speakers have you got in your front doors?

set x-over to 80hz
turn the input level down to minimum
turn volume to 3/4 volume (NO MORE!)
turn bass to 0 on headunit
start turning the input level up
keep increasing until the sub does not get any louder and you can hear the sub to begin to give up...you will tell when it doesnt play clean
turn the gain back down a small touch till the distortion goes
if the bass is too punchy...turn the x-over frequency down untill your happy
listen to a few different tunes and keep adjusting until all ranges are playing how you want them to

please note this is just a rough guide...dont take it as gospel as there are MANY variables involved in setting up systems and if you blow your sub it aint my fauly :P lol

Had somebody try and tell me the other day you should run the headunit at full volume and adjust the gains from there :-?
