With a 140k on the clocks I wouldn't be trying to tune that motor without a complete nut and bolt strip down.
Tuning wise you can add:
reworked head - £350
Cam & vernier - £300
4 branch manifold - £100
Exhaust system - £300
Chip - £250
This is the setup my old 2i had and this made just a smidge over the 130bhp point
To be honest with the ease of fitment and availability you can't beat the 2.0 Zetec transplant so unless like I was you really want to keep the CVH in there this is the best option

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

for that sort of money tho you can get a full turbo engine with engine loom and ecu and fit that with a 165chip and a small boost increase to give around 140-150 bhp safely with scope for futher power if wanted at a later date

In the grand scheme of things, theres not a lot of point tuning the 2i engine, just is;nt worth the out lay for little payback, plus the car is worth nothing anyway, if it were me and the engine was knackered i would either rebuild that one to standard, or source a good low milage unit, although highly umlikly, then just add a good stainless zorst, and 4 branch, i would'nt waste the cash on anything else, then you can save up and buy a turbo'd lump or a turbo'd car.
Thats my thoughts any way.
Gareth.

Not everybody wants or can afford turbo power. I know my FRST would have knocked the spots off my old 2i for performance but my old 2i was far more fun to thrash and throw about.

we have done a couple of conversions and if you could get the car to us would be more than happy to fit a supplied engine etc drop us a pm to go through the options
tom currently has everything that would be needed to convert the car to turbo spec, if you are interested i would sugest buying the job lot off him as it is easier and often cheaper than trying to source parts from many places in hope of picking up lots of bargins.

no the thing that really kills the turbo is that if it has been driven hard and shut down without idleing then the turbo is still red hot al spinning down and the oil supply to the bearings is suddenly cut, the causes alot of stress on the bearings...
if you did find yourself unable to let the turbo cool down then a turbo timer could be needed.

Why not try something different and drop in an st170 lump with 6 speed box, check out what i did with my RS1800 it CAN be done with some patience and creativity!

Fair one mate, a more simple option (which I have done before) is to get hold of a 2.0 zetec and throw that in with a 1.8Rs1800/xr2i inlet manifold and the "130" throttle body from the RS too, plus the Rs18/xr2i 16v waterpump, sump and oil pick up and run the lump on the RS1800 ECU (or omex, megasquirt etc...) Use the RS18 clutch and flywheel too.
With a nice stainless 4-branch manifold, filter, decent exhaust +no cat and a decent rolling road tune/ mapping sesh you should see the right side of 145bhp and have brilliant driveability too, thats what i'd go for mate.
I have fitted the "black-top" 2 litre zetec from the focus/mondeo to a mk3 fiesta too but there are a few more issues involved with doing that. They are nicer lumps than "silver top" zetecs though (better flowing head with bigger valves) and you're more likely to find one without a million miles on it!
