ice question

Postby CossieDan on Fri Oct 19, 2007 9:38 pm

i dont know too much about ice setups, and i have a question about what i need to do to achieve what i want

i have a 4 channel amp, 2 front, 2 rear, and a sub.
my amp only has one gain setting for all channels so i cant adjust each channel seperately

is there anything i can get to enable me to adjust the gain for each channel? so for example i can increase the volume in the front or rear without getting another amp?

cheers

Not really fella. To be honest amps are so cheap these days I would just get a new one that does what you want. If I were you I would get a 4ch that you can use to run th efront speakers off 2 channels and then bridge the other two channels to run the sub then run your back speakers from the headunit

hmm i never thought of doing it like that, thats what i really want i wanted to be able to turn the gain down on the back speakers so i could hear the front ones more, make it more surround rather than all coming from the rear :P

does an amp increase the sound quality at all or just make it louder? would running the rears off the head unit affect the quality? its a sony xplod headunit not sure on the model quite a new one tho i think

i thought about using my old 2 channel for the front but i dont really wanna have more than 1 amp in my boot im trying to save space as it is :)

An amp only amplifies the signal thats there. For good quality sound you need a good quality source and you need to play through good quality speakers. You don't have to spend a fortune for something nice sounding. My whole FRST install stands me at only just over a grand including all cables

its strange you have only one gain setting on a 4channel amp...which amp is it out of curiosity?

might be worth getting a different amp (if you cant adjust front and rear channels independently)...another 4 channel amp or maybe even a 5 channel depending on what you want to spend
