ideas on next engine mod please
ok, car is a XR2i 16v. Not done much to the engine, just back box, air filter and 2L throttle body. Im planning on getting the MAF from a 2L. Questing i need answering do i need a cat on a 92 plate car?
basicly what chip do people think i should use. What kinda spec cams should i be looking at to get. And what do i do about the fueling as most people say 145bhp is the max for the injectors. I do have 2L injectors but i wanna know if i can use them and see a gain.

your xr2i is 1.8 zetec with 105ps the rs1800 is the same engine but with 130ps. So if you put rs1800 cams, rs1800 maff and an rs1800 ecu on yours then you will 130 ps (128bhp). i had an rs1800 engine before my 2.0 and they are pretty nippy.
a must see lol > http://www.rs1800.clara.net/damos_ass.avi

ok, i got the 2L throttle body, i have a 2L cams, but i dont know how good condition they are. Im not going to put new cams in only to take them out a month later for higher lift cams.
The maff, would a 2L mondeo one be any better.

the 2l maff is bigger in bore size than the rs1800 one so it probably is better. im running one on my 2.0 but where it is bigger means you need bigger piping to actually fit it.

4 branch manifold mate. On my car I used a CVH one, had the flange cut off and a zetec one welded in it's place.
Made a huge difference.

simon16v :so im guessing u did the welding yourself, what type of welder did u use. Also would it just bolt onto my exgaust system and would i need to ditch the cat?
No mate, I gave my local engineers a Zetec exhaust manifold gasket - they made a copy of that on 15mm steel and welded it onto the manifold.
£30 + manifold - you can get it done for £100 all in. You can keep the cat if you wish.

ok thanks, i do have a de-cat, but MOT is due in a few weeks, and not 100% on the law. I know i dont need it working due to it being a 92 K plate, but i wanna know, does my car need one fitted but not working? if you get me.
