Idiot guide to fitting an air filter needed...

Postby kel64 on Thu Apr 13, 2006 1:03 pm

Hi there,

I have been searching for a guide to install a new air filter. I haven't been successful so far. I have picked up that it is meant to be easy to do, but bare in mind the most mechanically challenging thing I have done under the bonnet is checking the oil level

The car in question is a 1998 Fiesta Ghia X, 1.4. The corect K&N filter for this has the code 33-2804.

Any help would be great :)

IF this is the CVH Fiesta all you do is undo the clips on the filter airbox behind the drivers side headlamp and lift the cover. Remove the old element and replace with your K&N. If you want to gain some more benefit and some induction noise you can undo the 2 10mm nuts that secure the bottom of the airbox, undo th esmall breather pipe to the base and remove the base and drill a load of holes into the cold side of it (side furthest from the engine).

If you have an induction kit you simply do the above but remove the airbox and lob it into your shed. The fit the rubber pipe to the crossover pipe and secure it with a new jubilee clip and the fit your nice induction kit to the pipe using another jubilee clip. You will need to trim the small breather hose and attach this to the hole provided in the base of the filter

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

It does sound simple then. I will go ahead and get it soon I think.

Many thanks.
