ignition cuts out randomly

Problem or technical question?

ignition cuts out randomly

Postby Razer on Sun Aug 23, 2015 4:58 pm

I have a zetec 1.8 16v silvertop with an kfdi management
It did run good until a couple off weeks ago

it randomly cuts out the ignition ( coilpack ) and won't start ( it does crank ) untill you release the connector from the coilpack for about 30 sec.

tried another coilpack, and checked the wiring, but stil no result
Who knows this problem or has an idea what it could be

try the crank sensor, also double check the pins in connectors (coilpack too) as they can corrode or splay (spread) over time

Have you checked your alarm? I had an alarm on mine once that got a bit temperamental, the immobiliser would randomly cut in while driving which would just shut car off without warning

Changed the coilpack, cranksensor etc

The problem is that the 12volts is gone for a while and 10 minutes later it's back

Everything elso works, so injectors, fuel pump

havnt got an alarm , so that won't be the problem
