Errmmm Drop a bigger engine in, won't affect price of insurance, just invalidate it!

I know the feeling mate I had to start in a 1.1, Won't really get many gains in power but drilling the air box and getting a K&N filter wil make it sound a bit better.

I put the wider 8v XR2i alloys on my old 1.0, made it feel a little better/safer going round bends but as said before you'll not increase the power noticably etc... it'd be best to save for a new car/engine

I doubt it dude, if it did it wouldnt be much. As said before, just wait until you can afford something newer and/or better.

I started off with a 1.0 and drove it for 3 years building up my NCB (also put alloys on it and other minor mods like a glove box door etc  ) . It still took me about a year to find a decent XR2i. Luckily for me though, as it took so long to find one, my budget allowed for a nice tidy 16V. :)

K&N bolt on filter is prolly a starting point.

Then a good service (follow the de-coke guide on http://www.fiestaguides.co.uk) and use good oil and good spark plugs

No cheap crap.

Thats about the best you wanna do to it.

Or crash into me, or I'll batter you to death.

Please don't listen to this fool. Declare ALL engine changes to your insurance company. If you were to hit me, your insurance didn't pay out, and I had to sue you, be sure I'd take your money, your car, and prob'ly give you a good kicking as well.

Oh, and the criminal charges against you as well......

And muppetboyrsturbovan, I hope you have sorted your details out legally by now. Don't go giving gay illegal advice out to new forum members again please.

1 point it was a joke!!!
and 2 watch your mouth as u dont know who u are talking to and ill like to see you try and kick my ass as ill snap u like a twig

yeah i did drive like that for a few years to get my no claims down but had no choice had a xr3i cabbie with 1.9 turbo engine with a insurance quote of £8000 tpft and 10k fully comp with all mods declared with a baby (wasnt expected)i was 19 with a no bonus and a ban for speeding which is bloody robbery so i told them it was standard and got it tpft for £2000

i dont agree with driving with no insurance but when u get silly quotes like that and u get all the asylum seekers that dont even have a liecene getting away with it all!! if u dont get ur car insured all u get is three point on your liecence and a £300 quid fine which is a lot cheaper than paying ur insurace

im not giving bad advise and i advise ppl not to take the road i took
but i did it and regret it now im 21 and just gone fully legal and im proud
but dont go shouting ur mouth of u daddyrichboy and mommy pays for ur insurance i did what i had to do at the time,to get to work and earn money to provide for my baby that was just born

so just to clear things up DO NOT DRIVE with no insurance it will mess u up in the future like it did me :(

I drove a 1.1 to get my no claims up. If you can't afford it, don't drive it.

Too many people on this forum post off the cuff remarks about fudgekin with their insurance. You were one of the latest. It isn't smart, and if you have done it, don't joke about it! We get some real retards on here who believe everything spoken as fact, and you can guarantee it'll be the 'tard with 1.1 Fez brakes and an RS Turbo lump sliding into the side of your Cabby.

I dont think drivingan XR3i cabrio with a 1.9 turbo engine in is "doing what you have to do". Im not going to argue, im merely saying, there was no need to rush into something mad such as a car like that at 19, just be sensible like everyone else (unless you have the rich parents to do otherwise) and build up no claims and get used to driving properly.

Glad to hear you dont do stuff like that now.

I've paid for my own insurance since I was 17, as I have for everything in my life. My parents are by no means rich, and quite how you worked that out I don't know how. To clarify once again, I drove a 1.1 to get my no claims up.

I called you a muppet because your first post indicated you were. Read it again and what do you think? It just tells a newbie to do something illegal, and I called you on it.

I'm glad you do now have everything legit, but remember a remark you make off the cuff might be taken as gospel by someone. This forum is for helping people out, now getting them arrested. I'm glad to see that you've indicated that what you did was bad though, and that other shouln't do the same.

as i have said before the insurance in my neck of the woods is really bad for example my sis is 17 just passed her test got a 1.1 metro her insurance is £1750 tpft with a 600 excess the car cost 200 quid she is a training hairdresser on 80 a week how see suppose to pay for it

now the same quote for her in cornwall is 900 quid cheaper i hate the way that the insurance rip u off i know young drivers are high risk or whateva but they should at least give u one chance if u crash in first 5yrs then ur premium shoots through the roof this way i rekon that they will elimante 95% of no insurance clams

:)

It is a rip off, not matter where you live. The government has even warned isnurance companies to lower their rates for younger drivers as less and less people are either

a) Bothering to learn to drive.
b) Even take out insurance.

Its a fudgekin rip, luckily mine has come down a bit somewhat.

Putting a 1.3 in to the fiesta bonus may be the best way to improve a 1.0.

Just dont forget to get a quote for the insurance first! It may be cheaper to sell what you have and just get a standard 1.3.

If you even think about putting any alloys on a 1.0 bigger than 13's, your mad. It will struggle to set off. Trust me. I've driven a 1.1 with 17s on

My 1.1 was ok with 15's on, but i have to agree a 1.1 with 17's is a joke, it really couldn't get to 70 on the motorway without going down hill.
