i have a mk5 zetec s 1.6v standard and was wondering what was the best things i could do to increase my power.

air filter
exhuast system back box or full system
chip depends on the cars model

Depens on how far you want to go...and what model ZS you have. The phase 2 engines have alot more potential.

Best starting point is Filter, Cams, 4-2-1 manilfold + exhaust system and a remap/ chip
