erm, many cone filters absorb too much underbonnet heat, mainly in the summer,so in theory arn't very good in terms of extra bhp as the standard airbox is designed quite well, but they do sound very nice with the roar they give on full throttle.
halfords sell a carbon fibre airbox(very similer to BMC ones) with a proper cold air feed,im very tempted to get this for my XR2i as its only about £80.HTH :)

erm, you'll have to remover your original airbox, just keep the maf part, then this goes on the end,and put the cold air feed somewhere in between your bumper etc. not sure if it roars as much as say a K&N but im sure it'll sound a little better.HTH :)

Have you though about fitting a K&N element for about £30 and then drilling the cold side of the airbox? This has been tested by Performance Ford and achieved very good results is a lot cheaper and you still get the induction roar

Basically replace your old air filter with a k&n one, will save you money and if you drill the airbox will sound just the same as the induction kit.
