Your age is against you and your TT99 does nothing to help matters. If you can get insured for £2.5k I would say that is about as good as it will get.

You seriously need to reconsider your choice of car.

with a tt99 im surprised youre even thinking about a xr2i. if you want to do it fine but you will pay through the teeth for it.

just get a 1.1/1.3 and maybe do a LITTLE exterior modification. but other than that its time for

Stick your mum and dad on the insurance too as named drivers. That always helps bring the price down.

I'm 18 and paying £1000 with all mods declared, with my mum and dad as named drivers.

I just turned 20 and i got myself an xr2i. My insurance is 460 but thats because my girly has 5 years no claims so i made a massive saving.

Because i live in southend my insurance would have been about 2000 on my own, even tho my area is actually quite nice lol.

Ive been driving little under a year and this is my second car. My first was a 1.6 si but it kept going wrong so i sold it. I know the insurance group is a lot lower on those than the 2i and you still get 90bhp and with the future possibility of a 2.0 conversion, might be worth a thought, get a quote on an si.

Sorry to say it but I don't find that a "lol" moment, very irresponsible as I'm sure you've been told... I'm not saying any more. Get a 1.1, build up your no claims, don't do anything as stupid as you did then, and reduce your premium. In a few years buy the xr2i, or even keep it on the drive / in the garage until you can afford to insure it.
