Re: insurance!
I know the feeling but, thats not legal
I just looked at insuring a car, £900 for me on a classic car. So re-did it with my dads details (his insurance £360 for a pug 307sw 168bhp derv worth 6k) The £500 retro car with him owner driver and me named £2000.
This is why we have so many unisured drivers. Ive had 2 none fault accidents in 5 years so who do they wack me. looks like Im going to have do down grade from grp 10 car to groupe 6 car in sept

Re: insurance!
really...... thats strange.
there are a few details you should be aware of though that can make the insurance void if you dont follow them, such as who the car is registered to, where its kept over night, i.e if you say at your grandads and your always parking it at home then your not following the terms of the insurance.
you wanna ask if theres any provisions on it too limiting young drivers etc
basicly ask as many questions to the insurance compnay as you can think of as you dont wanna be caught out on anything, but you wanna deffo be down as main driver

Re: insurance!
Likes Jay says I would deff read or look into the small print on the policy insurance company's these days find anyway not to pay out when you need them to, thats the big problem with the NurburgRing at moment. A lot of people going over there thinking there insured, but as per the small print there not and thats a risk I personally would not take!

Re: insurance!
Sign the car into your grandfathers name, so hes the registered keeper and owner. Then insure the car in his name with you as a named driver.
The mistake made by many is that they have there relative first name driver and not the registered keeper/owner therefore sticks out like a sore thumb.
insurance is nuts my mk3 1.1 i was paying £75 a month and the Arosa sport which has double the power is £85 a month

I work for Hewlett Parkard in Hook, Just as boring Media Controller being paid crap money The Focus is limited to 6k a year, must be garaged every night and that with a RS owners club insurance company. I've got a Fiesta Zetec-S I use for everyday, which is declared for 12k a year and park on drive way. Its currently with direct line and only has 1 years NCB at the moment, thats costing more than the RS at £350 a year which is up for renewalle in August I'm sure Direct Line double it , like they did with my RS I shall be phoneing around all the club insurance companys, I don't do this online crap!
