Re: insurance
Hate to piss on your chips mate but you will have to declare the mods the bodykit and everything. I know its all ford items but to the insurance company you have made that car more desirable to the would be car thief.
I have wheels off an escort rs 2000 on my turbo and had to declare them, cost me an extra £16 on the policy which was a joke really cos the insurance was only £100 anyway
Just remember if you dont declare the mods and anything happens the insurance company will void the policy and you will be prosecuted for driving with no insurance. It happened to a friend of mine and he ended up being banned from driving for a year all because an old woman drove into his car and he didnt declare the wheels and exhaust

FFS it's like they don't want people to drive there going to be ripping me off to £2000 at very least , I suppose I'll just have to ask if they need declaring when I'm getting quotes , thanks for the info tho mate

Re: insurance
http://www.aviva.co.uk/motor-insurance/
try these mate, i pay just under 800 quid a year with aviva on a mk3.5 1.6si, 20 years old 3 years no claims and a driving ban! every other company was 1200+ per year but for some reason aviva were miles cheaper.
when your getting a quote try changing things like, mileage per year, where the car is kept overnight and named drivers on the policy.
i found that if i put my dad on as a named driver it knocked 50 off per year but with my mam on it put it up by 30 a year (she has 8 years no claims). annual mileage was cheapest for me at 4000 but they cant prove that anyway so you could do 20k in a year and it dont matter. and it was cheaper to say my car was parked on the driveway overnight than in the garage.
my last insurance company wanted to charge me extra for adding locking wheel nuts, wtf is that about?? i think stuff like that, locking wheel nuts, kept in garage etc are to catch people out as you automatically think it will reduce the price when it sometimes puts it up so make sure you check every different option if that makes sense?
end of the day insurance companys are complete pricks who will try anything to rape you of every penny you have just because your a young driver so its alot harder to get a good price.
good luck with getting insured anyway mate and good luck with learning to drive!

Re: insurance
I'll be saying it's on a locked driveway Which it is and around 2000 annual miles can see me doin loads in my first year but as you say they can't prove that . Apparently some charge more for a garages car as a thief has more time to do what they want and won't get desterbed they would potentially have access to tools swell , I will try adding my mum to the policy 1st as she dosent have a car no more and could use it to nipp to the shops if she docent it don't matter along as it makes it cheaper . I might also get an alarm put on , really don't know what I'm going to do though Iv got around £1000 towards my insurance and I haven't got a clue where I'm going to get the rest from , then I've got to tax it mot it and fill it with fuel . Learning to drive isn't a problem Iv been able to drive since I was about 10 it's my theory test I'll find hard . Thanks for your help mate

Re: insurance
TBH with you the mileage aint gonna make that much of a difference. When I got insurance for my step son we put down 3000 miles a year and when I played around with the quote it was cheaper for 10000 miles a year than it was for any less. Going over that it got dearer again. Most insurance companies see 6000-10000 miles a year as average so I would put down something between them mate, at least your covered then if you do a few miles.
And again they can check the mileage in the event of an accident, they go off whats recorded at the time of an MOT. Just remember "should" anything happen they will do there very best to find reason NOT to pay out so dont give them a reason

Re: insurance
Also be careful with Aviva, I was with them years back when I had a 3 series BMW (was called Norwich Union then) and when I enquired about adding a roll cage the premium went up by £400. I asked why and they said "If you feel you have a need for a roll cage then your obviously not driving sensibly" which was a good point but I wanted to add it for track days not doing handbrake turns in McDonalds car park lol

Re: insurance
when i had my mk3 i was with quinn and they didnt need me to declare my alloys/2i bodykit because it didnt affect the performance of the car?
the person i spoke to just reminded me that in the event of an accident, if i had to claim the parts i put on wouldnt be replaced...

There are some companies that are like that. I was with CIS for a couple of years and they werent bothered what I did to the car as long as performance wasnt effected but they have since changed the way they do things

Re: insurance
when i first got my provisional it was £650 annually, that was only 2 years ago, just shows how bad things have got in that time mate
wouldnt try quinn though, they've gone downhill
try elephant and admiral they seem to be taking it easy on younger drivers at the moment, also try getting a policy in your parents name mate, like everyone says have play with the options online and then ring up to get new quote and barter

tbh mate i think i might just wait till i have a full licence , thers no point in me getting insurance yet as theres not many people i can drive with and i wouldnt be able to just drive when i want id just end upbeing a taxi so later im going to buy a theory practise disk and book it , bit annoying that you cant pay cash though then its just a case of 10 lesson s at the most and my test

Re: insurance
lol, i took quite a few (cant remember how many) but passed 1st time. When my sister did her test she booked it for her 17th birthday, failed in the morning but rebooked for the afternoon and passed lol. This was a year before theory test came out and before you had a cooling off period between tests

My biggest problem will be the theory I'm going to try and book it for next week , then I'll have enough time to revise . So can you have lessons before your 17 ? As I'd like to have my test on my birthday so I can drive as soon as possible
