intercooler blocking radiator?

Postby zetecrs on Fri Aug 01, 2003 11:00 am

Right peeps whats best for my zetec turbo cold air onto intercooler (located in front bumper when i get it) but blocking cold air getting direct to radiator or cold air direct onto radiator and keep intercooler to one side (stilling getting cold air as bumper cut out in middle) what do people think? ps The bumper i'm having fitted is the SI extra with middle cut out so plenty room for big intercooler behind bumper!

When I spoke to Pace about a custom Rad and intercooler they said that as long as they are tight together the airflow will still flow quite fast over both therefore the cooling would be quite good still. It's only when you seperate the 2 that the airflow is disturbed and the cooling is not so good.

So you'll probably be best having the intercooler on the outside and the rad inside as this will make the pipe work easier, but not reduce the efficency too much.

thanks i'll start moving things around and see just how close i can get the rad to the intercoolr my only fear is that the bonnet catch on fiesta MK3 will get in the way of moving radiator! i'll give it a try anyway cheers tom

I was thinking remove bonnet catch (thus freeing up lots of room)and use bonnet pins but then i'd have to look into some sort of locks to stop little beggers nicking stuff from under bonnet!
