I should imagine it would be easier to simply get a uprated alloy intercooler?

i'm going to do the same.
i got a intercooler fom a vauxhall turbo diesel i think, from my local breakers only £6 but that also included a large oil cooler !!!
the stainless intercooler pipe will be cut up to provide a new home for the intercooler.
if it dont work well its only a couple of quid down the drain.

yeah it might be easier to fit an uprated item, but it costs a hell of a lot compared to a bit of hosing to fit a spare standard cooler!! :P

again, same as daz, if it dont work then its no loss is it!.

another cheapish option is to go for a 2wd cooler if you dont mind chopping your bumper up, you can pick one up for about £60 and they work very well

good idea but the second intercooler in the engine bay will only act as an interwarmer !!
he was better off putting it somewhere in the front of the car to get as much air as possible.

pimsle @ Mark..

I think thats a GREAT site ;-)

The more pipeing you put in the more lag you will end up with (thats a disadvantage of putting 1 in the front of the car and 1 in normal place..

Where The 2 standard ones are, i heard they worked very well

granted, ideally in front of the car would be perfect.
mine i belive would not gain more lag due to it been "in line" therefore no other bends or obstructions, as for the "interwarmer" i'm sure it will be cooler than the air straight from a hot turbo, ie: the air in the engine bay will not be as hot as the air coming from a cherry red turbo, so any air flowing through my seperate intercooler will only be a benifit.
cheers for the comments.
