why would you want to run a standard 1.8 to 8000rpm??? power would tail off way before then.

Due to getting the wrong gear :o , I've seen 8650 rpm from my 2.0 Zetec several times, and it still runs.

The only way you can get this kind of reliability is to fit ARP rod bolts. Standard bolts will let go well before 8000 rpm, particularly if you run the engine at these rpm's for long intervals.

mine runs out of puff at about 6500 rpm and its is not exactly standard.. before the turbo was put on peak power was around 5500 anyway and that was with a cam..moving the power up that high would make the car totally un-drivable in almost every way..possibly you could get a race engine built though..if you had a spare 10 grand lying around..
Fear is standard brakes
