Presuming its the original engine, the engine codes(on the chassis plate)are:

RD-105 bhp
RQ-130 bhp

I'm jelious (sorry cant spell) if it is !. When i went looking for a 1.8 Zetec at the breakers, i was originally told that it was the 130ps version, only to discover later that it came out of an Escort Si. Found these to be 115ps just like the 1.8 Zetecs from the Mondeo. The first thing that got me doubting it was when i had a look at the size of the T/B. Noticablby (sorry i know i'm a crap speller, too early in the morning again) smaller than the one you get on the 130ps version.

Best thing to do is have a look at it, and if you know anyone with an XR2i 16v, compare it.

All XR2i 16v are 105bhp, all RS1800's are 130bhp and have the 60mm Throttle Bodies and uprated cams.

If it's got a cat, get rid of it - £141 for a de-cat pipe and it should add 6-9bhp, only as yours is a K plate it might need the cat to pass an MOT. Just keep your old cat and put it on for the test.

Thats the good thing about mine being a G-reg, i didnt legally need one. I dont think they were legally required until 1992 onwards. But the 6 - 9bhp is exactly why i didnt have one fitted .

Dont worry about it failing the emissions test without the CAT, mines doesnt have one, just take it for a sever thrashing b4 you take it 4 an MOT itll clear it all out. :bonkers:
