a guy at worked put a dent in my car, admitted it was his fault, he contacted his insurance who contacted me with a list of approved garages,

my car is currently in getting repaired, however, i have to pay the garage my excess (£350), then claim it back off his insurance people

this is what the girl said at the garage, i was under the impression i'd put the car in and get it back without me forking out and waiting on a cheque from his lot :-?

is this the norm?

Ok, well it would be normal then. Perhaps they meant you wont have to pay the excess in the long run? And I'd've thought his insurance would've been in touch with yours to get value of the car, etc.

if garage is saying one thing and insurance another I would rais eth matter with the insurance company and get them to speak to garage direct

it could be that garage is just trying to get some money up front

thats what going through my mind, why wait for the insurance to settle up when they can get £350 from me and make me claim it back

im phoning the garage later but the insurance are sending out letter to me stating they'll pay the amount owed

thats cool BUT get the insurance to confirm verbally on phone with garage

if the garage is one of their preffered ones then they will do this and the garage will agree or they could lose business
