the 1.1 engines and the 1.3 engines are both HCS and they look identical, tho the 1.3 has a bit more grunt, very easy to swap the engines. is just like replacing it with the same engine, all u need is hoist and a friend. swapped mine over was easy as pie. beauty is that 1.3 HCS's came in the mk4 escorts as well so the engines are common as muck. go for it mate, and u learn a bit doing it urself.

No, what I am saying is why bother going to all the trouble of changing over an engine when you are only getting a few more bhp. If you are going to do it then why not make it worth while and get a turbo engine etc.
Or better still just start with a performance car in the first place.
Who is talking to you Fezz ??
Tell you what Fezz if I bend over why dont you choose which cheek you prefer............................And then give it a kiss ( )( )

The thing is I work in insurance and you would have quite a job insuring a car with a different engine that standard. They would do inspections an the like before insuring it if they bothered at all.
Dont try and pretend anyone who swaps an engine actually tells their insurance and of course that is their choice.
So what I am saying is the reality !!!

Yeah, what ever mate!!
My car has at the mo a 1.6 CVH in it out of an excort - i know they are all the same, but the escort came with EDIS (mk3 1.6s came with a dizz!) and it is fully insured WITH the insurance knowing about the engine! Al they needed was the car to go on a break tester and a fully qualified mechanic to write a letter saying that the car was structually up to the engine and that it was safe to insure (ie would stop and handel correctly!) So, no probs insuring one even if you DO declair it!! and i think you will find almost all of the people here who have swaped the engine have declaired it!
As for saying why not go to tubby power - do you think everyone can insure them!!!

Oh and you seem to have quite a big ego problem!! "what i am saying is the reality!!" if you work in insurance then you will know that anything can be insured for a PRICE, it just comes down to the fact is it worth the price to most people!![/b]

Ego problem wtf !!!!
Look mate if you have an insurance on your car with a different engine then I am very happy for you, however the majority of insurance companies will not touch cars with transplanted engines full stop.
Yes, you are correct you can do anything for a price........................
Now please see reply above
