iso conectors and mute cable - one for ICE installers

Postby xrsi on Wed Oct 24, 2007 9:31 pm

Have fitted a bluetooth sony ericcson car kit to my 406 and cant find any info anywhere on the wiring for the car with regards to a mute lead that may or may not already be on the iso connectors into the std clarion head unit.

My main question with it not being a ford is that are all the ISO wiring the same from different car manufactures giving a pin that is used for a mute lead or are all manufactures different?

The car is a pre multiplexed 2001 406 hdi exec if that makes a diff to any people who fit radios for a living as to which cable to join to......

the handsfree kit should have a lead coming straight out of it that plugs into the mute lead?

the handsfree kit has a lead that splices directly into the mute lead in the car loom (if there is one cos i cant find anything to say there is anywhere and you know how good haynes manuals are!) that cuts all the sound from the radio so that all you hear is the sound comming from the handsfree kits own speakers.

there is an addaptor available that plugs direct into the handsfreekit in place of the speaker that plus directly into the speaker part of the radio then the speaker part of the iso lead plugs into the adaptor as well cutting the music without the need to splice in the mute lead. However as the car kit i got was old stock - its the sony ericcson HCB-300 so you need the HCE-16 adaptor, not the HCE-26 that is all that is on ebay or any of the shops on the internet!

so that is the problem, also gotta wire one into a 206 over the weekend, that has a JVC so hopefully it should have a mute wire labled on the wiring for the headunit, otherwise im going to have the same problems :(
