It popped, then sprayed everywhere
So I noticed today that the oil filler cap (aftermarket chrome one) popped off and sprayed oil all over my lovely clean engine bay
Is this down to the crappy aftermarket jobby or a symptom of something more serious?
I have put some tape around it so nice and secure now till I find a nice original one.
Thanks in advance

plastic or metal cap? as i suppose metal could vibrate loose in verry extream matters?
also if you start engine with cap off you don't see any air presure pumping/ puffing out the cam area through the filler bit in the cam cover do you?

Its common for them to pop off, it should be quite a snug fit, the seals normally wear, or they are poor quality

The rubber seal inside it can be replaced by one from a oem cap they distort quite a bit

Check the dip stock isn't blowing out now you have taped it on.
As said should be a right snug fit and not a sloppy fit,
Might be worth checking the breather pot over if that's blocked it will blow oil caps off
