'J' Black FRST, not been on the road since 1999

Postby RS YOD on Mon Sep 08, 2014 9:24 am

Hi Guys

I found this recently, did a deal and bought it home.

Black, 1991 Fiesta RS Turbo
Owners, 1991-1994, 1994-1995, 1995 until yesterday when I bought it

The owner has misplaced the paperwork due to a house move, but thinks he may find it and I will keep in touch with him. It was last started 3 years ago, but now it doesn't start as the pump isn't priming.

It appears to be very solid, it needs bits and pieces but I don't think it needs any welding, arches are great.

Here are some pics.

This was how it sat:

Then bringing it home:

And after a quick wash outside and how it sits now:

I need to get it running first, it has an ignition live to the fuel pump but the pump isn't working, the engine turns over well but wont fire, and the rad has a small leak.

My plans are to get it running, mini restoration and use it until I am bored and then sell it eventually. The car was on the ramp today, no rust, arches are rock solid and is in great shape. The drivers door isn't the best as it was bent open when it was broken in to many moons ago, but I will get that sorted too.

By mini restoration I mean, full machine polish, new brake cylinders, calipers, discs and pads, timing belt/waterpump, stem seals and a full service, replace/sand&paint any clips or anything under bonnet showing signs or rust and make it a nice clean example. It only has a stainless exhaust, the rest is bog standard

Cheers mate,

I spent hours with it today and the guy from the body shop. The car has had paint, and the front right wing changed but the rest is all original but more importantly the shell is absolutely solid, body shop guy couldn't believe it.

The tanks out, waiting for my pump to arrive and I cleaned it today, fingers crossed it runs when it's all back together.

PS. Does anyone know what exhaust this is, it has plaques on it and a couple of silencers

It's a full stainless mate so wont be changing it, the rubbers have perished so its sitting lower than it should, Ill get some photos of it when it's sitting right and cleaned up, looks okay.

.
I'm going to sell the car on, but in the mean time until it goes I will carry on making it better.

The car now starts, idles, drives etc all as it should and it doesn't smoke one bit.

Here are a few pictures from today:

Wow that looks really nice, great to see your spending some time getting the old girl back in shape.

I really miss my old Black FRST, would love another one.

I shall keep my eye on this post.

Gareth.

Yes mate, fitted it all up, disconnected the coil pack cranked it reconnected it and it just came to life instantly, I was so impressed. No smoke, rattles or anything like that.

But I've seen an R1 Need, okay, want and have more time for bikes than cars :)

That's good to hear mate that it was a simple fix. As for how much its worth get the history and a decent steering wheel and i reckon its worth around 4k

After it has had a full service brakes etc and an mot and a a full polish it will easily be worth 4k. Message me a price if you like for what it would take for me to come get it as it is. I would love a standard one.
