Jim Clark Rally 2008 23rd - 25th May 2008 (Some Pics)
Anybody going from here?
This will be the Jim Clark’s fifth year in the beautiful town of Kelso. Set in rolling border country an hour south of Edinburgh and nestled on the confluence of the Tweed and Teviot rivers this ancient town with its Georgian cobbled square offers a great backdrop to the event.
The 2008 Jim Clark Rally will consist of 5 separate events each with its own appeal to a spectrum of competitors' ability and budget. The International, National and Landrover rallies get things underway on Friday evening with a ceremonial start in Kelso square, before getting down to real action on Saturday with over 100 miles of stages in both the Lammermuir Hills and Berwickshire lanes. The National Rally and Challenge Rally, which joins the action on Saturday morning finish back in Kelso Square that evening.
For leg two the International Rally is joined by the ‘Reivers’ Rally a ‘National B’ event. Traditionally the ‘Sunday run’ is compact and this year will be no exception despite retuning to the Lammermuirs for a favourite stage and offering Scottish Rally Championship contenders their longest event of the season. The Reivers Rally is a national B status event.
All of the events will be centrally serviced from the one time racetrack and airfield at Charterhall, where there is ample hard stand and easy access. All the overnight ‘parc ferme’ will also be based here.
Activities get underway a week ahead of the event with the Reivers Rally recce session taking place on Sunday 18th May, although most of the recce takes place on the two days before the rally itself.
