Just got me a ZS rear Beam...

Postby ju575 on Thu Jul 07, 2005 10:55 pm

got the beam and rear drum brakes for £50 along with 4 ZS wheels with v.good tyres (although one wheel is damaged) for £100

I'm gonna be changing the rear beam over soon but got a question (I know this should probably be in tuning. handleing and brakeing section but i hardly ever get replies in that forum lol)

Will anything need to be changed to fit the rear drums? There is an electrical wire leading from the drums along the beam and up into the car at the middle, as far as i'm aware this isn't the case on my car :-?

Cheers, Ju :)

:D I've fitted a ZS beam to my Si a few weeks ago, no changes are needed. The handbrake cable fits straight on and the hoses should be fine, but I replaced mine with braided ones at the same time.

Also, if the beam has been sat for some time, get some new wheel cylinders as the ones I had were seized.

Mine was sat in my garage for a year before I got round to fitting it!

It does make a nice difference, I think I'll be getting a strut brace for the front soon :D

Anyone know what this is then? Something to do with the abs, traction, lining wear???
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

Finally I found out a zetec-s rear beam!!!
It might be something that you find on every uk corner but here in Portugal there are NONE zetec-s's!!! The car was never sold here and so scraps dont "import" the car.... but I found one with only 26k miles on the clock. :D

I'm going to keep the zetec-s rear drums and the only doubt that comes to mind is: what handle brake cable is needed? FRST std one ou zetec-s one?

Although Zetec S's are really common here there rarely written off (or at least thats the case near me)

FRST handbrake cable should be fine mate, :D
