K18 UFO, Frozen White track car, FOR SALE !!
Re: My RS1800, Cage bolted in and complete.
Dash looks good Luke, I also want to keep the vents on mine,
I remember doing away with them in a previous track car and nearly boiling to death @ RS Combe a couple of years ago
Its bad enough when the poly windows go in, air flow is a must in this one.
The car has already come along way, bearing in mind it was boggo standard when bought last December !!
So in the next couple of months it will be developed further with much more lightening, I have the carbon parts going on, various alloys parts will start to find there way on as well

Re: My RS1800, Cage bolted in and complete.
Its like a green house i used it on track at Ford fair last year and had a the standard blower in there but no dash and poly windows.
After finsihing the track sesion i almost keeled over i was soooo hot and lightheaded.
So back goes the dash, which is actually lighter than the old set up of satinless bar and guages
Carbon is a feature of the finihsed article too ha ha

Re: My RS1800, Polycarb started.
So today I have cut and fitted my polycarb rear side and rear windows
Glass...
Out within 5 minutes
Polycarb cut and back in within 30 minutes
I still have the fronts to do but they won't be done until I have sorted slider kits out for them
Also replaced my gearbox mounts with my new comp. Vibratechnics ones
Removed boot popper and all the electrics from the boot
Weighed the car again 850kg
Which considering I have now fitted the cage, I'm impressed with,
but don't worry it ain't stopping at that weight for long
lots more to come off that yet
Taking my wheels off to the powder coaters tomorrow morning
And hopefully my Gaz coilovers will be with me tomorrow evening ready for fitting on Saturday.
One bit of bad news is when I was under the engine I noticed that the water pump is leaking
That will be replaced next week

Re: My RS1800, Polycarb started.
It really is scary how easy those windows come out isn't it...
I take it the polycarb comes in flat sheets but bends enough to take the same shape as the original window?
Cage and paint look really good. Onwards with the weight loss!

Cheers guys,
Yeah windows are very easy to do
That polycarb I got is some tough stuff though
and yes it will bend to the shape of the windows
Weight is coming down well

This is all going to be good and ready way before it needs to be, good work Shaun The nitrous bottles will add a smidge of weight, but they'll be worth it

Have a look back a couple of pages fella, all the info is there,
I got it off of e-bay for a very good price
It is some of the best polycarb you can get, very strong, 4mm thick.

Sort of a shame to do this to an RS1800 but at least its still on the road and being used!

Re: My RS1800, Front panel lightened, again.
Front panel was rusty, hatch is rotted,
The car would of been scrapped if I hadn't of saved it guys
The whole point of me buying it was to use it and abuse it on track,
which is what I'm prepping it for.

Re: My RS1800, Front panel lightened, again.
Shaun loose the loom get a 1100 loom - sorted
Loose the arch liners though when you do look where the arch liner attaches on the top of the inner wing you will see a small metal tag that protrudes
that little thing....
sliced a 8mm gash in my tyre at combe... any lower and would have split my tyre in two
So cut that straight off.

Re: My RS1800, Front panel lightened, again.
The only thing that puts me off taking the liners out,
is the fact that in wet weather the water spraying in the bay.
I have done it before, but only drove that car in the dry,
this one is bound to be caught in the rain this year,
Anybody had problems in the rain without the liners?
Thanks to Henry btw,
I'm swapping the red harnesses for a pair of blue ones
Might put some piccies up of the coilovers later, I'm collecting them this evening
