1K for a roof and bonnet ! !
You plumbers make too much money drinking pg tips all day.
On a serious note wasnt there a fibre glass mk3 tailgate produced at one point ?
I remember fitting my standard tailgate... it weighs a ton !
Im sure a carbon one could be knocked up and get a couple of aero catches on it

Good evening lads,
Yes a mk3 Fiesta tailgate has been made in fibreglass but for the life of me i cannot find the receipt or details.
HUGE YES to it fitting terribly, mine however fits great now but the bodyshop charged me a fortune for the pleasure.
its very floppy though, so i would only recommend using if u can find one if its a track toy..

Re: My RS1800 Track car, Pre. Combe Rolling Road vid.
Carbon roof is fitted
lots of pictures of the afternoons work
One of the main reasons I had to remove the existing
Front screen removed, don't push on the screen theres no need, just push the rubber out on the top and sides then it will just lift out, if you try to push it the chances are it will crack
First hole
I used a jigsaw with a metal blade to do this
roof was then keyed
new roof placed on as a test fit
underside
tiger seal then squirted around
roof was then placed on and now is left to dry for 24hrs
Sorry Heeman
windscreen was then put back in, again very carefully
To say I'm chuffed is an understatement

i'm gonna guess that he doesn't really need that centre structural piece to keep rigidity as roll cage will provide enough

It looks great so far!
As above though, you've just lot a fair bit of rigidity in the top half of the shell. Hopefully you'll be OK as Tiger Seal is pretty flexible stuff

is that it!
, just kidding, looks well smart mate i thought you were going to be removing the whole roof though as in drilling all the spot welds out.. but the way you have done it is better as you have more place to stick in on with

Re: My RS1800 Track car, Carbon roof fitted !!!!
I can't believe someone keyed your roof Typical
I like that so much of the original roof has been kept, that will help retain some stiffness across what would've been a very weak void. I'll be disappointed if you don't give us the weights of the carbon panel vs the steel/glass panel! It does look really bloody pretty, I'll definitely give you that! And I forgive all the bricks, blocks, wood etc etc, it is all padded The tear dried in my eye when I scrolled down to see the fabric

Re: My RS1800 Track car, Carbon roof fitted !!!!
Cheers for all the comments guys
Can't wait now to take all the blocks off tomorrow afternoon
I will get it out from under the car port and take some more piccies for you all
James, The weight of the new roof is 2.1 kg , tomorrow I will weigh all that I removed today and post up the total, I suspect it will be near 10kg, but stay tuned for that.
I'm so glad those 4 gutter hoses are gone
The main strength of the roof is still in place, so hopefullly I (we) shouldn't have any problems, but because Luke and I (and nearly Muz ) are the first to do this on a Mk3 only time will tell.
From now on I will not say what I'm "going" to do I will tell you all what I have done
