K18 UFO, Frozen White track car, FOR SALE !!

Postby Turboboy67 on Sat Dec 01, 2007 2:50 pm

Well after getting an RS1800 earlier in the year to do up as a track car
and having to break it due to rust, I've been on the lookout for another :D

I knew of this one in my local RS group

Full s/steel exhaust with de-cat

Spax RXR adjustable suspension

But the seller wanted £1500

Needs 2 small bits or welding for the mot which are being done
and then MOT tested next week

But I picked it up for £400

Its in generally good condition, a few rust bubbles and the odd tiny dent,
but its a good usable car for the Winter and for track days
It also takes the pressure off me getting JNE ready for April.
Immediate plans to give it an oil and filter change tomorrow,
Start stripping out the interior, fit rear strut brace (front zetec one wanted btw  )
The brakes will be overhauled before any track action is seen.
Waxoyl everywhere possible.

A few pictures from today.
It came with 15" Super Ts but they were not included in the sale so I took them off
and put my polished 15" RS2k wheels on :Q :Q
Image
Image

as she is now, infront my house :D

More updates tomorrow :aviator:

Cheers :bonkers:

Can't hear a thing mate  ,It was a her btw

Well I didn't want the wheels and it didn't have an MOT, though she did put it through one yesterday and it failed on the couple of bits of welding and the headlights.

It handles like its on rails, I drove it back from Castle Combe a couple of months ago and I was well impressed :aviator:

Can't wait to start stripping her out tomorrow now, weather permitting of course

I might have a look at one mylself at a daily runner........ paying 1.16 per litre of fuel dosent make sence.

More progress this morning :D

All of the interior in the rear has been removed,

Headlights have been swapped,

OMP rear strut brace fitted :Q

The car has a water leak which the previous owner couldn't find,
well I have found it and got a shot of anti-freeze in my face for my troubles

Its on one of the heater matrix hoses near the coilpack, everytime you rev the engine a squirt of coolant comes out, I will replace the hose tomorrow

So, its being dropped off tomorrow for the week to be welded and MOT'd

I'm also getting the cam-belt changed as I've heard its a pig of a job to do yourself.

So by next weekend I will be enjoying the RS on the road :D :D

Few pictures of todays progress

A few more plans for it include, Poly-carb rear side and rear windows :Q

Weld up the sunroof

F/glass bonnet and tailgate.

Eventually more power
I love the sound of bike carbs/throttle bodies

More progress today :D

Welding has begun, and should be finished by tomorrow (3 patches)

I had a look underneath and its in really good condition,

I've got about 3 gallons of Waxoyl lying around and I have asked the bloke doing it to

"use as much as possible" on the underside when the welding is finished.

Because I have removed the rear cards, I can get in around the rear wheel arches
and treat them when its back home as well. :D

The water hose turned up, but its the wrong one, so I have hopefully now ordered the correct one, Also ordered new thermostat and temp sender which will be fitted this week :)

Cheers :Q

GAV.2i :what plans you got for the engine bud?

Not to much tbh,

Hopefully its kicking out about 130 ish bhp,

but for me its all about making these cars handle around the track,

the more speed you can carry around the twistys the better :Q

I want it to be a cheap(ish) motor really,

all my time will be going into my FRST after Christmas.

When my Turbo is done I will then carry on improving this one

Cheers :D

nioce mate, them rs2k wheels do look far better.
be good once shes on the road mate, i recjkon your enjoy driving it, was saying to a mate last night, its nice in the xr2 that you can pull away fast and get no spin, well, they do spin up a fair bit if wet, but compaired to the frst its nothing, you much jknow what i mean, pull away fast in frsdt and its spining in 1st and 2nd, sometimes in 3rd too if wet.
still that aside, she looks a bloody good deal for what ya paid for it, i take it your be in the beast when you come over here soon?

GAV.2i :can i ask i know im quite young but how in the bloody hell do you guys manage to keep 2 fezzes ?! it must be a drain on the old pocket... or your all just filthy rich :(

you got to pay insurance on a works van, wtf :-?

thing is, some of use are older, turbo boy is the oldest on the site and is over 40 so we dont need to inc the discounts he gets from saga in this

manage money mate, thats about it, that is if you can afford to do it in the first place.
unless you get a bloody good job from school, or what ever your have to wait for what ya want, or get a loan but ya still paying then.
if your born with a silver spoon and all that then you can get what ya want when ya want and not have to worry, but i had to work for what i got (3 cars inc wifes) but i got a good job from school and got the car i always wanted for first car, a mk2 xr2, got my frst at 18 (still got her) got a galaxy for wife, and just got another mk2 xr2 a month ago for my self, but the rebuild on frst and the wifes galaxy was funded by a redundancy at the time, the xr2 is what i had saved up from selling bits and bobs and money i was going to spend on the frst

Cheers Jay, yeah when I come over I will be in it :D :D

Gav, As has been said by Jay so nicely :P ,
I turned 40  a couple of weeks back and I have full no claims,

So my insurance is nice and low, my FRST with all the mods is under £300 f/c :Q

So today, the welding continues and the correct coolant hose has turned up,
so I'm off round the garage in a mo. to fit it.

I will take my camera and post a few more pictures up of the progress later

Edit, just got off the phone to my insurance co. and they can insure me on both cars

for under £400/year fully comp with all mods declared :o :o :Q

Sometimes I enjoy being my age   :bonkers:
