Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, progress
Bit of an update,
Engine is still away getting sorted
I've really just been stripping things down and cleaning and prepping the bay and under front wheel arches.
Car currently looks like this
I've removed most of the seam sealer from within the bay as it was a bit rough and I know I can apply it better
Fingers crossed next weekend the car is going down for its new strut tops to be welded in ready for the eccentric top mounts.
I have cut the strut tops out today but forgot to take any pictures.
Once they have been welded in then I can get some fresh paint sorted

Looks well nice.
I have a set of 17" OZ super leggera's. Lacking tyres tho so havent tried them on to see if they are safe or not, need a bit of refurb too. Probably fit fine tho after the slight modification for the escos wheels.
Rolling on some tsw's just now

Cheers buddy
Its all come to a bit of a halt atm, as I'm waiting for my top mounts to come through.
They will hopefully be here on Thursday, then they need to be machined down to fit which again hopefully will be on Friday.
So the trip to Ferndown to get the upper turret pieces welded in will now not be until the following weekend, then I can finally think about getting some paint on it, delays, delays
I might start taking the bodykit off tomorrow, gulp

Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, gutted !!......
.......my front bumper today
As most of you know its a weighty thing, mine isn't now
From this
to this
Then I had the problem of fixing it back to the front panel
I so cut down the original brace
from this
to these
then bolted them back on the car
Then a nut will be welded on the bracket and bolted through from the front, bumper can be removed in under a minute now
This was a test today to see what could be done, now Luke and I are probably getting some alloy brackets made up as they are lighter than the original ones
Another 5kg at least chopped off of the weight of the car
And one more picture of the cut strut top,
Adj. top mounts arrived this morning, they are being machined down to fit tomorrow.

How did you remove all the crap from the bumper? I've always wondered how well 'stuck' it is.
You can use my car when you prise the keys out of my cold dead hands

Its very well stuck, but it comes off fairly easy with a bit of prizing,
I used a paint scraper and a screwdriver, only took around 10mins to remove

That pic reminds me, i have a VR6 splitter sat in the workshop that needs fitting. How have you fitted it, any close up pics illustrating??
