K18 UFO, Frozen White track car, FOR SALE !!
Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, on the spit !!
Sphinx :Gotta love a good spit roast
Out of interest, how secure are the rear mounting points bearing in mind they're a single skin and not actually attached to the chassis rails?
Rear bar is secure enough fella, all the force is upwards/sideways depending on its position on the spit,
it doesn't flex because of the way its fixed to the stand, so its fine.
More progress,
The majority of the underseal has now been removed, initially with my blowlamp and scraper, and tonight I removed all the residue with the aid of a wire brush attachment on my drill.
Another couple of hours should see it all removed.

Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, Wings and sills off !!
I'm basically getting to the stage where I can't take much more off the car
today front wings and drivers sill have been removed and rear drivers arch
tomorrow, the passenger sill and passenger rear arch will be removed, and possibly the rear panel
I have all the body panels now, The petrol cap is being replaced with a panel and being welded up, no need for it now as I have the fuel cell going in.
Front wings weren't that bad, but thought I would replace as I want them to bolt on now
No pictures as I turned my camera on to snap a few and the battery was frigging flat
pictures tomorrow night of my weekends work

gammon slipper. lol
seriously thou, the top bit is fairly obvious, just bolts in place of the welds, but what about the other areas?

Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, Wings and sills off !!
Top is simple, wing to A pillar has 2 bolts anyway,
below indicator, two holes with bolts and nylock nuts,
then a bolt through the bottom of the wing behind the bodykit,
nut will be secured behind the kit so i don't have to take the kit off every time I want the wings removed
More progress today, drivers side is nearly ready for welding, I've cut all the dodgey metal out,
so theres a fair bit missing atm
welding starts on Wednesday evening

You can borrow mate of course..
Just dont buy alloy inserts as the tool tends to rip the threads out..
Ther steel are much stronger and you can really crimp them up and not damage the thread.

Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, Wings and sills off !!
Had a look on E-bay mate, I shall be purchasing some steel rivnuts and gun in the week
Right a few pictures from the weekends fun and games
I got bored at one stage so decided to remove all of the underseal from the rear arch
There's still alot of grinding to do underneath and the floor needs cutting out in one place and a nice new piece of steel inserted.
More updates/pictures to follow in the week

Cheers guys, No fella, a mate of mine in the Dorset RSOC works at a garage and owns a rather good mig welder said he would do it for me,
I can weld, but my welder is a bit pants tbh, Its fine for spot welding but not any good for seam welding
