Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, Welding complete.....one side
Update time again
All welding on the drivers side has been completed today,
Wednesday night saw the sill and one patch welded on,
today saw the rear arch and inner arch sorted out,
oh and I got busy with the angle grinder cutting out things I don't want
Few bits of body panel missing from standard shells
Wednesday will see me start on the passenger side, removing the sill to start with.
All welding should be done by this time next week

Darren, whos doing the welding for me got them fella, in total they were around £150, thats all I know.
After another 10+ hours by me today and 5 odd from Darren, the car is starting to look alot better
Passenger sill, rear arch are on, petrol panel has been replaced
Don't see many like that do you
All thats left now is abit of patching on the inner rear passenger arch, which should be finished this coming week.
Car currently looks like this
A few eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed I removed the front fuel tank bracket
Can't wait now to get the underseal and paint on underneath, so I can start putting the suspension on

Looks great, and giving me ideas
Although where you have cut the panel at the back of the rear arch... how are you going to mount the bumper? as normally they are attached to the rear arches to stop themmoving around, and now you have no rear arch to stick the bumper to

Re: My RS1800 Track car, K18 UFO, Welding 90% complete
Hi guys,
Sorry, I've not been on line for nearly 2 weeks thanks to BT
All welding is now done, underseal is almost done, but I ran out on Saturday, 3 more litres will be here tomorrow, and applied tomorrow evening, I'll put some pictures up tomorrow as well
I took aload of bits in today to be powder coated, they will be ready on Friday, So I can start the refit on Saturday
The spit I bought from E-bay, around £130 delivered, the best money I've spent tbh, so much easier to work on the car.
Rear bumper will have some special side brackets made for it to fix to, its also being gutted
Good to see you a FF Paul, even if it was just as you were leaving

Good job Shaun
Liking the rear brace, are you using that as a harness bar too ? I've just had 3m of bar arrive at our local fabricators, should be having it welded in soon.

Minstral :Shaun always wondered what is the advantage of powder coating?
Harder and tougher than normal paint. Looks good too
Also saves the hassle of prepping for paint and then getting stone chipped to hell etc.. as they just shot blast it and then powder coat it. Covers alot of imperfections too. My ex rally wheels looked near perfect when powder coated

Cheers guys
Jay, yeah its heavy but serves a good purpose, far better than the flimsy OMP bolt in one
Chris, yeah, strapping my 3" harnesses to it
Toby, Paul has answered your question
Paul, I would go for a weld-in cage but I don't want the welder sparks melting the roof
Ordered all my riv nuts up tonight so I can sort the front wings out next week.
