Been busy today, I've driven right the way round the M25 :bonkers:

On my way I collected my Yokohama a032r's :Q

Image

Road legal cut slicks, nice and sticky for the track.

Also collected my Carbon Fibre bonnet :Q :Q

Image

Don't worry the stickers are coming off

When I got home my Aerocatch bonnet pins had arrived :o :Q

Image

Bonnet should be fitted on Sunday :aviator:

going to be nice and light and quick when its done! :D

those catches are much much better than the type that is on the bonnet at mo, are you retaining the origional bonnet catch as well? as if not i would have gone for the locking ones like i am having on mine personally. Just makes the car a little safer when not in use ;)

I see your point mate, but even tho it is slightly more weight there is a balance between safety of car and minimum weight (plus they weigh bugger all difference :P ) yeah they can still knick it but its safer than ford std job and a deterant nether the less. But im sure it aint going to be left anywhere that it wouldnt be overly safe!

Shaun, thankyourself lucky you dont have to fit those catches on a metal bonnet...

i decided to fit these after i saw them on Porkies 3-door, blooody hell how hard to cut the bonnet out with out scratching the paint.

i did do it in the ned and fitted perfectly with no damgae to paint!!

be so so so easy to sand out the carbon with a dremmel :D :D

yeah they aint the easiest of things to fit, test fitted one on a scrap bonnet i had and all i did was make a mess of the one! saying that tho i did fit it with a only 4.5" grinder and a drill! :oooh:

Going to fit them to my proper bonnet with a dremmel, lots of masking tape and a lot of free time so its done properly.

Fitting them to the carbon will be easier, might be worth fitting some foam between the lip around the edge of the pins and the bonnet so you dont over stress the carbon tho on the contoured part of the bonet where it will try to pull them tight against each other..... im sure you know that already tho! :D

xrsi -

Find a suitcable hole cutter for your drill around 15-20mm in size.. drill these all around the template so as to cut inside the template this leaves a selection of jagged edges.

1 x dremmel like you mention and about 4x small grinding stones from b+q and you can whizz all those off.. lay about 9 lots of masking tape down
incase you slip.

took me about 1hour each one from start - paint - bolt on. :D

What alot of replies :o :o :D

Bonnet is reinforced underneath with a thick Fibreglass cross :Q (picture later)

probably buy another 2 aeros for the rear of the bonnet :)

Existing catches will be dumped

I must weigh it, I reckon its about 4-5 kg, may be slightly more

I retained all my sound deading to try and keep a little bit of noise out....
i know it weighs a lot though due to stripping my mates cossie out of it.. 2x full bags of it like a big bag of potatoes in weight.

However ive retained mine fully stripped out poly windows and lightweight components on the car.= 790kg
with carbon roof and bonnet, it should match that weight again, but its now has a full weld in cage opposed to the bolt in one i had before.

Seriously though weight is the biggest key to making a good handling/accelrating car for track....
lowers the centre of granity and makes the handiling feel spot on
