Re: My RS1800, New wheels on, more lightening.
Cheers guys,
Matty, I only have 46 Ford wheels, 4 are 3 stud paxo ones
Dub, sorry fella, only have 1 set of 16s and there on the motor,
Jon, I already have that picture ,
I'm going to sell my 15" TH's because the offset is 55 and I will need spacers and longer studs to fit them, seeing I'm going down to 13s for the track, I don't want to keep changing all of that everytime I want to fit them
Your TH's will look good on your new motor though mate

Re: My RS1800, OMP cage, race battery.
And so it continues, at frightening speed
I travelled a few miles down the A303 and collected my new OMP cage
not even been painted, got the receipt for £354.78
I beat the queue and picked it up for £170
Its a proper FIA approved one
Front;
note removable door bars on floor
rear;
I'm going to fit it after the welding is sorted,
I will get some large plates welded on the floor where the legs are going
Colour will be powdercoated Red (that will please Jayrs )
Also collected my new battery for track days, normal battery will be used for non-track events
slight difference in weight/size, it will be relocated behind passenger seat

Re: My RS1800, OMP cage, race battery.
Thanks for all the comments guys
Chris, I will need to move to a 4 bed house soon I think, or rent yet another garage
Jon, I will leave that to Luke fella, he's got more money even than me
Actually drove the car a few miles today, took it down to Lulworth where the Dorset RSOC are having our show in June, just to meet the bloke in charge to discuss a few things.
Car drove well, noisey, hard ride...... occasional backfire , sweet
If all things go to plan I'm off to the Hants monthly meet tomorrow where Luke has offered to buy me a meal can't turn that down now can I

looking ace, started doing this to my 1.6 si with rs1800 engine and its going to end up pritty similar, where did you get the cage from? do they have anymore at that price
also how much of a difference do the sound deading make when you drive the car? i still need mine as a daily driver so i dont want it to be too anoying everyday
looks sweet now though

Re: My RS1800, OMP cage, race battery.
Cheers guys, I will try and answer all your questions
Mark, JNE is still waiting for a clutch change when the weather warms up
PMK3, Better get it down the local weighbridge fella.
the strut brace is the correct way up, unless OMP have stuck their sticker on upside down
McGoo, tbh, with all the interior out, taking the sound deadening out didn't make any difference, lets just say theres no point in having a radio in
take it out and wear ear plugs
Cage came from Dez on here, I just put a bit on the bottom of my sig and he pm'd me, he's only about 20 miles away so I was very lucky to get it

i think yours is upside down Shaun, mines the other way up, to my knowledge they only came in red, so its been resprayed and the sticker has been put on the wrong way. I dont think it really makes too much difference though

i have my rear strut brace that way up with the sticker on that way the sticker is the correct way on mine.
would sort of figure tho being better the other way up as it is also stopping flex partly down the turret that way not transferring the force to the other turret and causing stress at the other end of the brace!

Re: My RS1800, OMP cage, race battery.
I have to agree that it would be better the other way up,
anyway Muz has just bought that one, I have a red one now
I have managed to move the welding needed forward and its now being started this Friday
I'm removing the front bumper and "working" on it over the weekend
So they are sorting welding inc. plates for the rollcage mounts.
Painting and oven baking the cage red, I was going to have it powdercoated but it meant travelling 50 odd miles backwards and forwards so this for me is the better option.
So this time next week all the welding will be done and the cage installed
The following weekend I will be prepping and painting the interior,
naturally the cage willl be fully masked up
I went to the Hants RSOC meet last night and the front of the car got covered in salt grrrrrrr

I was going for black,
but then Dez the bloke I bought it off of mentioned that the Saftey Devices ones were black.
I think red will go with the strut braces and harnesses
But a week is a long time for me, I will probably change my mind a few times yet

Re: My RS1800, OMP cage, race battery.
lol - my OMP cage is going to go gloss black, my harnesses are red and the strut braces at the mo are red but they will be going gloss black as well when the car gets close enough to be done to have the cage and strut braces fitted.
Really dont think red will be a good combination against your blue, will look quite garish and stand out far too much have you decided on the colour of the wheels yet as if you did it the same colour as the wheels if you were going for a slightly darker colour would look quite good i think.

Thats what I want
Everybody is saying to me how they like the white wheels,
but its a track car so they are going anthracite within a couple of weeks.
White takes to much cleaning,
I had enough of all that fannying about last year with JNE
I will think the cage colour over for a few days,
I was set on red but now I have my doubts (told you it wouldn't take long )
Oh, and I just booked my track time for RS Combe in July, details in events section

if wheels are going anthracite then cage would look stunning in same shade as wheels are going if they are going to go the same shade as the comps you had on in one of the pics as they really suited the blue in that colour
