Re: My RS1800, OMP cage, race battery.
Think I will get one of those Luke
Henry, didn't weigh the metal but it must be 2 or 3kg so far
I will weigh the car again once the roof is fitted.
There a guide on how to move the battery in FF mag, they used a battery box, I will be using battery tray and clamp.
It will be located behind the passenger seat, nice and low in the car.

such a good read this thread is...
cars looking awsome, its going to feel like a go kart by the time you finish chopping bits out of it.
is that polycarb stuff the same as perspex?

Re: My RS1800, OMP cage, race battery.
Thanks G4V, Polycarb is much tougher than perspex, do a google search fella
Jay, the interior light etc. has all been removed, single horn is a good idea
Henry, Front bumper looks uncut, but I have taken a fair bit out the back. Behind where the numberplate goes will be 4 or 5 holes where on track days I can remove the plate and let even more air through to the engine bay.
Rear spoiler will be removed again for track days

Re: My RS1800, OMP cage, race battery.
are you doing the front and rear screen in polycarb too?
was thinking its not glued in... so its a case of cut it to size, stick it in the rubber trim and string it in. job done.
That would probably save a good 30-40kgs.
how much did the car weigh at the start and how much are you aiming for?

Paul, I was going to go mental with the air saw yesterday, but held back
did you just cut out and leave or add any bits in after to strengthen it?
xrsi, I might just take both off if its not raining

i thought of something else that could save precious grams, by fitting a small kenlowe or spal fan, that should be quite a bit lighter than the old fan housing etc

Keep the single wiper! But if you are tall and want the top corner of the screen wiped just remove one and remove the other half of linkage!
Keep the std washer bottle just don't fill it up! Is only plastic..

Re: My RS1800, OMP cage, race battery.
I see this thread is going down hill rapidly
Somebody mention pies
I have lots of ideas to reduce weight on the car.
So this week the cage will be painted and fitted,
I need to get the engine mounts sorted.
Wheels are being sent away to be powder coated, so back to the RS2k mk5 rims
Next weekend the polycarb will be cut and fitted,
I'm collecting the bits ready to move the battery.
Hopefully Thursday I get to work on it all day (well thats the plan)

Re: My RS1800, OMP cage, race battery.
After not being able to get on site today due to electricians
I decided to fit the cage
All I can say is what an arse of a job
All day its taken to fit, weld in floor plates/door bars, but its now out again for paint
Will be ready on Friday to be fitted again, weekend will see inside prepet. and painted Pacifica to match the outside. Busy weekend ahead me thinks
